Rubaka plays with the other children but is always attached to his mother. He has never been ill or injured in a trap which is always good news for us.

There are some gorillas that are Rubaka’s age who are no longer so clingy with their mothers – but we probably have to wait for Mahisho to have another child before that happens.

Rubaka means “he who builds” and it was also the name of a Ranger who died.
